About the Author
Dott. Massimo Mangialavori has been practicing Homeopathic Medicine since 1985 and maintains offices in Bologna and Castel del Piano, Tuscany, Italy. He is an internationally renowned homeopath, regularly lecturing in Europe, the United States and Canada, South America, Israel and Japan. Reflected in his seminars and books is Mangialavori’s avid curiosity and love of deep, analytical thought on various subjects including anthropology, natural history, complexity theory, myth, psychology, literature, among others. While in medical school he developed an interest in medical anthropology and traditional healing, joining a group of anthropologists, psychologists, and herbalists in Peru for further study. While there he sought out indigenous healers, eventually encountering a homeopath in Columbia who helped to inspire his current path. Mangialavori’s love of homeopathy reflects his broad range of interests. Exploring the natural history, the traditional use and myths connected with the substances affords deeper understanding of the related homeopathic remedies. Complexity theory helps describe the ‘intricate systems’ of patients, remedies and the natural substances from which remedies are derived. And his remedy descriptions are informed by psychology, particularly psychoanalysis and object relations. Mangialavori divides his time between Bologna and his permaculture olive farm in Tuscany in the shadows of Mount Amiata. Words cannot adequately acknowledge the tremendous contributions Dr. Massimi Mangialavori has made to the world of Homeopathy. In his recent book, Dr. Mangialavori generously shares his comprehensive knowledge of fourteen milk remedies. Two cured cases with long term follow ups further illustrate the essence of each remedy. Much of Dr. Mangialavori’s knowledge of remedies comes directly from his meticulous and extensive clinical experience. This well organized book is a valuable tool for students through experts – glossary and repertory additions included! Many thanks to Massimo and his dedicated and accomplished students for bringing this homeopathic treasure to fruition.

Long awaited and well worth the wait

Another masterful work by Massimo Mangialavori! There are a few absolutely stellar thinkers in the field of homeopathy, and Massimo is one of the very best. When I sit through a lecture of his, or read one of his books, I am constantly left with the thought that either the European education system far outclasses the American, or he is simply brilliant. I think it is a bit of both, actually.
Dr Mangialorii only teaches a remedy if he has several cured cases using it. Cured, as in several years of follow up, using only the one remedy. This is not just theory, it is based on real, cured cases. He then adds the extremely useful layer of explaining in great detail how to recognize the remedy in practice. What are the themes you would see in the patient, both physical and mental/emotional? He shows how families of remedies can be spotted, and then, crucially, once you understand what family of remedies pertain, how do you do a DDX to get to the exact remedy?
This book gives you the deep, deep theory that runs through all of his work. It then breaks down each and every remedy in this Milk family in fantastic detail. In my medical practice I often find myself returning to Massimo's books to get greater detail on a remedy under consideration, or simply for the intellectual joy of following his thought. If you are a serious student of homeopathy this is a must read.
