An essential to understanding, predicting, and influencing behavior

This is a general treatment, presenting the basics of much of the area which social psychologists treat under the topic of attitudes. It balances this general approach by detailing the reasoned action model. The prior work with this model, detailed in previous books and many empirical studies by other psychologists, is presented so that the reader can learn the model. The model treats people's decision making as the basic factor in our behavior. Based upon an understanding of the bases of the reasons for the action leads to ways in which the reasons con be evaluated and behavior made consistent with reality and one's values.

Peter Cotgreave is an animal ecologist who has worked for the University of Oxford and the Zoological Society of London. This book is a core introductory text which examines basic principles of ecology for first year undergraduates. The authors have expertise in population ecology and plant ecophysiology which will give the book a balanced treatment of plant and animal ecology and a strong applied and evolutionary bias. Instead, it will aim to give the student a good grounding in the basics of ecology, including patterns in biodiversity, population biology, the ecology of assemblages and the interpretation of ecological data. INTERESTING READ IF YOU ARE INTO THIS STUFF

I read this book after being becoming fairly familiar with Dr. Marshall’s rubric as part of our work in complying with our state’s new evaluation system (Oregon, SB290). I would recommend this book to anyone with background knowledge and interest in teacher evaluation and instructional leadership. If you have such a background, the first part of the book reads like a mystery novel. Marshall tells about his sleuthing over several years to find a way to provide meaningful feedback to teachers that would actually help their teaching, not just be a “dog and pony” show. He explains in detail his successes and failures over many years of developing his rubric and a system of mini-observations. The second part of the book discusses structural issues in detail: managing administrator’s time, how to have professionally valuable conversations with teachers, the superintendent’s role, and more. I almost gave it four stars because of the contrast between the first half of the book and the (dry) second half. However, the entire book was filled with useful information and I highly recommend it.

I bought and used this book for my health statistics ...

I bought and used this book for my health statistics class. While the book itself seems to explain concepts clearly in from the beginning it was clear there were mistakes with the chapter exercises as well as the review and matching sections at the end of the chapter. Upon questioning our teacher List of corrections was given to us that was two pages long. I understand mistakes happen but there's just too many mistakes to feel confident that you're learning the content properly.

I purchased this book based on excellent reviews on Amazon. I was disappointed. The book covers a lot of material, much of it of little or no interest to most of primary care doctors. For example it describes blepharoplasty and EGD, and a lot of similar procedures that most of PCPs refer to specialists. At the same time most of the procedure descriptions are covered very superficially, providing very few details, and not really useful for someone who is trying to learn procedures. Photos are of very poor quality, and are not helpful. The big drawback for a procedure book is the absence of DVD demonstrating procedures. Considering its huge volume, I decided it is worth the price I paid, and I decided to keep it. But I wish the authors devoted more space to relevant procedures performed by most PCPs and added good quality photos and DVD to help understand procedures.

Great reference

Good reference book for most outpatient procedures. For primary care physicians it is a very valuable resource. Most of the step by step instructions are described in detailed with pictures. Some procedure descriptions are not covered very detailed, and may not be really useful for someone who is trying to learn procedures. Overall a good book
