Too expensive and poorly illustrated

The book deals with all relevant aspects of archeomineralogy and it becomes quickly clear, that the author is a real expert. But unfortunately, the bad Springer habit to publish scientific books in dull black and white and to a much overpriced rate turns a good book into a bad one. The author describes many minerals and rocks but could not add a single colour foto to visualize the text. This is not acceptable, especially as the book is mainly written for archaeologists with an often modest knowledge in mineralogy and petrology.
The strength of the book are the very extensive references and the countless examples of the use of the materials and their worldwide distribution and occurrences. It would be great to have the same book published by a different publisher that allows a more adequate and contemporary layout. Then the book would get at least 4 stars from my side.
