Good Book

This book is an excellent source of music for the movie, Spirit. My daughter loves the pictures and loves to hear her favorite songs being played on the piano. It is hard to get the book away from her to practice. I do wish there were more pictures. There are just a few. This would not be a good buy if the person is just getting the book for their child to look at the pictures.

These are my FAVORITE songs (from my favorite movie) and I play piano

Firstly, this sheet music is hard to find. All sheet music is, unless you are at a sheet music store, and even then, I hadn't seen it anywhere but the internet when I ordered it.

This paper-back book has all the songs from the Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron soundtrack (as you can tell from the details), as well as a couple of Hans Zimmer's instrumentals.

After ordering this, my only worry was that the piano/vocal/guitar style of music would be a hindrance to playing and/or a compromise to the quality of the sound. This was not the case. The notes sound exact and are not compromised or simplified in any way. This is as exact as transcription gets.

The music is written on three clefs: a vocal line and two piano lines, one for the melody and the other for the harmony. There are also chords written above the staves for those who prefer a less exact, perhaps easier-to-play sound.

A book full of half-baked thoughts, cherry picked information, and the general tone of the uneducated pretending to be far more intelligent than they actually are.

This book claims to be about toxic, hateful nerds but the only one of those I see is it's author.

I came across this book and purchased it out of pure curiosity. I am currently majoring in Psychology at UPenn and occasionally play video games in what little spare time I have. I figured heck why not, it's cheap and already has good reviews. It was an eye opener for sure. I never really gave a good thought as to why people behave the way they do in multiplayer gaming. Thank you Mr. Hinkley.

Egan Bailey, the Eastgate Clock, and the real meaning of `wealth'

British author Evelyn Winters (with illustrator Rizal Nugroho who creates a splendid cover for this book) offers a brief but satisfying little story that makes a fine bedtime tale for children as well as inserting a bit of reality history and morals study underneath.

Winters opens her story with the flavor that spills over the short pages that follow: `Once upon a time, many years ago when clocks ticked much louder, there lived a talented clockmaker in an enchanted walled city in the northwest of England. The elf-like man was a master craftsman with an exceptional gift. He had served many a crowned head, but his latest assignment was to be his greatest. Egan Bagley was to create one of the most magnificent clocks the country had ever set eyes on.'
Egan Bagley for all his privacy is visited by an old gypsy who sells him a bewitched bead that seems to promise the gift of stopping time, giving him the opportunity to win at horse race betting. Egan Bagley is so successful in putting his ability to stop time to use that he becomes enormously wealthy and famous, but his trick with stopping time doesn't apply to his own aging an das a wither old man he feels guilt and begins giving all this riches from his success at making the clock (and the added punch of the bewitched bead) and I time he becomes the right kind of celebrity.

Evelyn Winters informs us that the story is actually based on the Eastgate Clock in Chester, UK and that little tidbit of information makes the story even more charming. This is a very fine little book that is highly recommended. Grady Harp, July 14

Charming and clever – highly recommended.

This is a delightful fairy tale told in the classical style (Once upon a time…) and replete with much loved characters and themes: a humble clockmaker, a rich and powerful lord, an old woman with magic powers, from rags and riches to rags again, learning important lessons on the way. Beautifully told, with lots of deft touches in the language, there are also one or two jokes for adult readers to smile at along the way! It is perfect for reading to your little one at bedtime; and if you live anywhere near Chester it has the added advantage that you can take her / him to stare at the clock which gave rise to the tale.
Charming and clever – highly recommended.

Ramesh Sharda (MBA, Ph.D, University of Wisconsin-Madison) is Director of the Institute for Research in Information Systems (IRIS), ConocoPhillips Chair of Management of Technology, and a Regents Professor of Management Science and Information Systems in the Spears School of Business Administration at Oklahoma State University. Good coverage of tech terms

This is the book for the MBA course in Decision Support Systems. The coverage on DSS, BI, modeling, analysis, data warehousing, data visualization, web mining, data mining, AI expert system, knowledge management, system development and acquisition, is very thorough. Case studies at the end of the chapter make the connection between theory and real-world applications.

The book will be better if it has "hands-on" software in AI, BI, or DSS. Lack of the use of software makes this class highly theoretical.

Overpriced and Garbage

If you're shopping for this book, it's probably because some professor told you that you need this book for their class. Having just suffered through this text in a class myself, I feel for you.

This book is utterly lacking in substance. Chapters 1, 2, most of 3, 10, and 11 are completely void of anything worth reading. The remaining chapters could have been summarized in about 10 pages each. The only problem with shortening the book to an appropriate length is that then it would be too obvious that $200 is too much to charge for a textbook.

It's incredible how these authors ramble on and on to fill space. They also love to draw artificial delineations (4 types of X, 5 steps involved in Y, etc.). It's also amazing how many "processes" are described in the book and how the steps in each process have different names but yet they're all the same. (Idea-->Planning-->Implementation-->Analysis-->Repeat or some such cycle) It's all just common sense but they feel the need to label these things. Which means you'll have to memorize their arbitrary categories, steps, lists, etc.

In the end, you're going to buy this book if your professor told you to. You won't learn a dang thing. The authors will cash their checks and release a new edition to quash the used market. I'm glad I'm finished with this vapid volume. Hang in there; you'll be done soon, too.

This book in its 8th edition y a very good one covering all aspects of Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing and Decision Support Systems. It covers Computerized Decision Support Systems; Business Intelligence; Collaboration, Communication, Group Support Systems and Knowledge Management; and Intelligent Systems. I think it is a very good text for a student or researcher that wants to start an investigation in this area. It is easy to read, has enough additional references and has good Web support. I am a student of the doctoral program of Management at ESADE (Spain) and ESAN (Peru).

Very helpful book in solving the statistical dilemma of how to prove two test samples are equivalent!

For a statistical mathematical book it was much easier to read than I thought. The introduction even has a flowchart to map out how you should read the book depending on your purpose - this was very helpful especially if you want to know the concepts about equivalency testing without all the mathematical theory. The theory is there as well, and I did find some of it useful.

We were struggling for a long time about how to prove things are the same, since you cannot 'accept the null hypothesis'

Dr. Jeffrey Nevid is Professor of Psychology at St. John's University in New York. He received his doctorate from the State University of New York at Albany and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in evaluation research at Northwestern University. He has accrued more than 200 research publications and professional presentations and is the author or coauthor of more than a dozen textbooks and other books in psychology and related fields, many in multiple editions. Dr. Nevid has conducted research in many areas of psychology, including health psychology, clinical and community psychology, social psychology, gender and human sexuality, adolescent development, and teaching of psychology. His research publications have appeared in such journals as Health Psychology, Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, Journal of Community Psychology, Journal of Youth and Adolescence, Behavior Therapy, Psychology and Marketing, Professional Psychology, Teaching of Psychology, Sex Roles, and Journal of Social Psychology, among others. Psychology book

This book was exactly what I needed for this class. It's interesting to read and has all the important words highlighted or bolded, which is nice. Its a different cover than the one I would've gotten from school but all the material inside is the same! I think my friend has a "custom" version but my teacher said it was fine if we didn't have that. Very good for the price!

The Questions are (mostly) multiple choice type and there is NO penalty for an incorrect answer.
Some of the Questions have more than one correct answer. You must get ALL the options correct for you to be awarded points.
For questions with a single answer, the answers will have a button next to them. You will be able to select only one button.
For questions with multiple answers, the answers will have a ‘tick box’ next to them. This allows you to select multiple answers.
You are not allowed to use any reference materials during the certification test (no access to online documentation or to any Oracle system).
Clearing the Certification will not automatically lead you to a job.
However a Certification with some project experience will certainly open a lot of doors for you.

Precariousness, Instability, and Uncertainty

The book is divided in three parts--"The Way We Are," "The Way We Think," and "The Way We Act"--which, in turn, have six subsections. This structure helps the readability of the book. Bauman has an enviable capacity to synthesize and organize different aspects of our present life in a homogeneous and suggestive critical discourse. Precariousness, instability and uncertainty seem to be the common axis to most of the chapters of this book. From politics, globalization, and education to ethical responsibility, death, and sex, Bauman presents a convincing image of the society (the world?), which seems to be in a constant state of flux and anxiety. The reader suspects that this book can serve its author almost as an outline of future books, where ideas can be further developed and substantiated with more specific illustrations and examples. In this regard, I find Bauman's analysis stronger in the first two sections of the book (when dealing with issues of politics and ethics) and perhaps less profound or thorough in the last part of the book (when elaborating on sex and love and death). On the other hand, I have to admit that the more theoretical passages forced me to imagine my own examples and connections. This is the first book by Bauman I have read.

I find _The Individualized Society_ much more satisfying and suggestive than Liquid Times: Living in an Age of Uncertainty, which I have also reviewed.

Excellent Book on Waste Management...Don't Be Scared By The Book's Size!

This is a really good book that I had to purchase for my graduate level Haz. and Waste Management class. Each chapter provides detailed info, covering everything from solidification and stabilization to proper waste management protocols and corrective action procedures for disposing of waste. You'll also find info about biological and chemical reactions, as well as land disposal and recycling. In other words, it covers the gamut.

Initially, I thought that the book would be boring, but I really learned a great deal from it. We had to do select homework problems from each chapter (some of which our teacher required a lot of detailed answers for), which weren't that bad. The only problem that I had was a lack of any kind of hint for the questions at the end of the chapter. Most of the answers you can find by reading certain chapters, but if you are unsure of where to find that info, you're out of luck if your teacher doesn't correct your papers. Overall, this book comes highly recommended for learning the finer details of waste management!

good for hazardous waste engineering and more!

well, my course teacher wanted us to buy this one. so had to buy, no choice. but i dont regret to buy after i finish the course! its wonderful book from cover to cover, and i'll keep it for my future use as an environmental engineer. one thing i didn't like as a student is its exercise problems mostly contained theories, not mathematical problems. so needed to read thoroughly, though its not well organized book. you need to read whole chapter to find the answer, no guess! it covered a lot of materials for environmental engineers. so its a book to keep forever.

Basic concepts fine, but sloppy inconsistent units with dozens of mistakes

Not overly impressed with the text. It uses many outdated concepts, shows very poor unit cancellations, and is riddled with dozens of major mistakes in example problems. The basic concepts are fine, but other than that this book is a pain to use.
